A Breathwork Journey Through the Four Agreements

Four weeks of intentional healing for your sleep and whatever else feels hard right now.

Are you finding yourself within these statements?

  • You're already doing (or have been doing) the physical work of healing your body, but you're wondering if something emotional, something spiritual, wants to shift or heal too.

  • The world feels like a lot right now, so you're looking for something to help you feel stronger and calmer — especially before the holiday season kicks in.

  • You've noticed in the past that when you actually make room for your body and for quiet reflection, something real shifts, and you want more of that.

I know what it's like to do everything out there, and still not see a difference in your physical health.

I'm Dr. Damiana. I've spent almost 400 hours training in Neurodynamic Breathwork, and I've watched it do more in one hour than anything else can in that short amount of time — for my clients, and for myself. Not to say diet, supplements, acupuncture, or other tools aren't valuable.

One session of my own fundamentally shifted how I felt about myself, in ways I hadn't expected and can't fully explain. Not every session is the same, and not every session will have such dramatic effects, but breathwork can be deeply transformational if you make space for it.

This work has been dear to my heart for years. Before I step away for a while for maternity leave, I wanted to open the door to it one more time.

"Some things get stored in your body, not your head. And your body needs a different way to let them go."

How Neurodynamic Breathwork and The Four Agreements will support your journey

Each week we sit with one principle from Don Miguel Ruiz's The Four Agreements. We use these agreements as the foundation of the breathwork journey.

WEEK ONE — Be Impeccable With Your Word
Thu Oct 1 · Sat Oct 3

The principle: Speaking, and thinking, with integrity — starting with the story you repeat about yourself.

In the breathwork: We'll notice the inner narrative running on autopilot — "I'm a bad sleeper," "I always mess this up" — and let the breath loosen its grip, giving your nervous system a different signal to organize around.

What it can shift: Self-talk, sleep, and how much you trust your own account of yourself.

WEEK TWO — Don't Take Anything Personally
Thu Oct 8 · Sat Oct 10

The principle: Separating who you are from what happens to you, or around you.

In the breathwork: We'll work with what's stored in the body as shame or self-blame — the sense that a hard night, a hard season, or a hard relationship means something is wrong with you.

What it can shift: Relationships, self-criticism, and the weight you've been carrying that doesn't really support healing.

WEEK THREE — Don't Make Assumptions
Thu Oct 15 · Sat Oct 17

The principle: Getting curious instead of certain, and questioning the stories we've accepted as fact.

In the breathwork: We'll explore what you've quietly decided is true — about your body, your capacity, your future — without ever having checked, and open a little space around it.

What it can shift: Anxiety about what's coming, rigid expectations, and the case you've built against yourself.

WEEK FOUR — Always Do Your Best
Thu Oct 22 · Sat Oct 24

The principle: Showing up fully, without the trap of perfectionism, and meeting yourself with compassion when it isn't enough.

In the breathwork: Our closing circle. We'll integrate what the month has moved and practice self-compassion over self-punishment as you head into the season ahead.

What it can shift: Your sleep, your relationship to it, and clarity around things that have felt stuck or heavy.

My transformative story with this type of breathwork

A few years ago, my thyroid antibodies (usually around 100, still Hashimoto's but stable for me) spiked over 4000 after an autoimmune flare.

For seven months I tried everything: strict autoimmune paleo, supplements, every functional medicine protocol I knew, working closely with my doctor. We tested my thyroid antibodies every six to eight weeks. The number wouldn't move. A month before my first breathwork session, it was still over 4000, and seemed to be climbing.

After that first session, I felt so different in my body that I had to test again. A couple of weeks later, my antibodies were at 501 (down from over 4000).

And they kept dropping in the months after. I know correlation isn't causation. But I also know my body, and something shifted in that session that months of diet and supplements couldn't touch. I'm not saying breathwork will heal your Hashimoto's or any other condition, we have to remember that everyone's journey is different. This is simply what it meant in mine.

In plain terms: a way to change your brain state on purpose, using nothing but your breath.

Breathing through the mouth — different from most breathwork styles — intentionally shifts your blood chemistry for a short period. As carbon dioxide drops, your body responds the way it would to a real challenge, briefly activating your sympathetic nervous system.

Here's the powerful part: this shift quiets the part of your brain that normally filters and manages emotion. That's exactly why insights and emotional releases can surface during a session because your brain's usual gatekeeper has stepped aside.

Neurodynamic Breathwork is rooted in holotropic breathwork, developed by Dr. Stanislav Grof. My own teacher, Michael Stone, trained extensively under Dr. Grof before creating this more accessible version. This is a version that works with your body's natural healing intelligence.

The "neurodynamic" part refers to how this practice changes your brain state. Through continuous, circular breathing paired with carefully chosen music, we move from everyday beta brainwaves into deeper theta waves — the same states you experience during deep meditation, REM sleep, and moments of real insight. That's where creativity, intuition, and your own healing wisdom tend to arise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to attend both days every week?
No. Each week offers a Thursday and a Saturday session covering the same principle, so you can join whichever fits — or both, if you want the extra time with it.

Is this suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Your breath already knows what to do. No previous breathwork or holotropic breathwork experience is needed — I'll teach you everything about this type of breathwork.

What are the contraindications?

Medical: being under 18 without parental consent, pregnancy, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, abnormal heart rhythm, recent heart surgery or heart attack, a history of aneurysm or strong family history of one, stroke, TIA, or seizure disorders, detached retina or uncontrolled glaucoma, severe osteoporosis, blood-thinning medications (please discuss with your facilitator), recent injury or surgery, and asthma (an inhaler must be readily available).

Mental Health: bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychiatric hospitalization within the last 10 years, severe PTSD (unless previously discussed with your facilitator), panic disorder, or any condition that impairs your ability to engage safely.

What is conscious connected breathing?
A technique where you breathe continuously, without pauses between inhale and exhale, typically through the mouth. This circular pattern is what creates the altered state that allows for deep healing work.

What should I expect after a session?
Everyone's experience is different. Some feel energized, others deeply relaxed. Integration can continue for days afterward — that's part of the process, not a sign something went wrong.

This work is complementary to, not a replacement for, medical or psychological treatment.
