Neurodynamic Breathwork Healing — When Words Aren't Enough to Process What You're Carrying
October-December 2025 Season
You're not alone in this.
The world feels heavy right now for many of us. If you're like many people I work with, you're carrying too much.
Understanding what you're carrying and actually releasing it—those are two different things. Some people know exactly what they're carrying. They can tell you the story, name the source, explain how it started.
Others just know something's stuck. Can't name it, can't trace it, just feel it. Either way, you wake up with it.
This is because some things get stored in your body, not your head. And your body needs a different way to let them go.
For thousands of years, cultures around the world have understood what modern neuroscience is now proving: conscious breathing can unlock profound healing and transformation.
Neurodynamic Breathwork builds on this ancient wisdom, rooted in holotropic breathwork developed by Dr. Stanislav Grof. My teacher, Michael Stone, trained extensively with Dr. Grof before creating Neurodynamic Breathwork—a more accessible approach that works with your body's natural healing intelligence.
Unlike traditional holotropic breathwork sessions that can last 6-8 hours, Neurodynamic Breathwork creates powerful shifts in just one hour. Through continuous, circular breathing paired with carefully chosen music, we access the same brain states present during deep meditation, REM sleep, and moments of profound insight.
That's where breath comes in.
What Makes Neurodynamic Breathwork Different
This work is different from daily breathing practices. It's not something you learn and take home to do on your own—it's a guided journey where you surrender completely to your breath, letting it carry you into expanded states of consciousness where healing unfolds naturally.
The "neurodynamic" refers to how this practice changes your brain state. Through continuous circular breathing paired with carefully chosen music, we move from everyday beta brainwaves into deeper theta waves—the same states you experience during deep meditation, REM sleep, and moments of profound insight. This is where creativity, intuition, and healing wisdom naturally arise.
This conscious connected breathing approach is gentle yet powerful, trauma-informed yet transformative. You're not forcing anything or following complex instructions—you're simply breathing in a connected rhythm while music holds you.
Your body already knows what it needs to release, process, and integrate. Neurodynamic Breathwork creates the safe container for that intelligence to unfold in its own time, in its own way.

For the complete 3-month breathwork journey
6 Sessions | 1st & 3rd Saturdays 9am—11am MT, via Zoom
This isn't a course with modules or homework. Each Neurodynamic Breathwork session is a complete journey in itself, while the quarterly rhythm allows for deeper integration and cumulative healing.
What happens in each 2-hour session:
Brief check-in and intention setting
Introduction to the breathwork process so you understand what to expect
60 minutes of connected breathing with evocative music
Integration and sharing circle
Gentle guidance for processing your experience
Why a quarterly program? Healing isn't linear, and transformation needs time to integrate. The two-week rhythm between sessions gives your nervous system time to process while maintaining momentum for deeper work.
This Is for You If…
You feel ready to release what's been weighing on you
You're drawn to somatic healing that works with your body's wisdom
You want to experience the power of breathwork in community
You're curious about expanded states of consciousness in a safe, guided container
You're looking for something beyond talk-based approaches that haven't quite reached what you need to heal
You're seeking trauma-informed breathwork that honors your pace
This Might Not Be for You If...
You're looking for quick fixes or guaranteed outcomes
You're not comfortable lying down and breathing for an hour
You have certain medical conditions (contraindications are listed during registration)
You prefer highly structured, predictable healing approaches
What You Might Experience
Every breathwork journey is unique, but people often describe:
Deep emotional releases that feel both surprising and natural
Physical sensations of energy moving through the body
Vivid imagery, memories, or insights arising spontaneously
A profound sense of being held and witnessed by the group
Feelings of lightness, clarity, or "coming home" to themselves
Processing of grief, trauma, or stuck emotions without having to analyze them
Access to creativity, wisdom, or guidance from within
Some experience all of this, others just one element. There's no "right" way to breathe.
A bit about me
I'm Dr. Damiana, and I've spent almost 400 hours training in Neurodynamic Breathwork, learning this powerful modality through many half-Saturdays of live classes with my teacher, Michael Stone. I've experienced firsthand how this practice can crack open spaces in us we didn't know were possible.
In my own journey, one breathwork session fundamentally shifted how I felt about myself and unexpectedly influenced my thyroid antibodies in remarkable ways. I don't share this to promise the same for you, but to honor the profound healing potential that lives within each of us.
This work has been dear to my heart for years. Now feels like the right time to share it more widely.
The Neuroscience of Neurodynamic Breathwork
Neurodynamic Breathwork creates profound physiological and psychological shifts. Through connected breathing, we alter the balance of oxygen and CO2 in the body, triggering measurable changes in brain wave activity and neurochemistry that allow us to access non-ordinary states of consciousness safely and naturally.
Recent neuroscience research shows that breathwork increases neural complexity—a signature pattern also seen during psychedelic experiences. While some practitioners speculate about endogenous DMT release, the profound states achieved through breathwork are actually due to well-documented changes in oxygen/CO2 levels, brain wave activity, and nervous system activation. Specific breathing patterns influence the release and regulation of key neurotransmitters including serotonin, GABA, and dopamine—the brain's natural mood regulators and calming agents.
This isn't about escaping reality—it's about accessing the deeper layers of reality where healing, creativity, and wisdom reside. During breathwork, your sympathetic nervous system activates while simultaneously releasing more serotonin, creating what researchers call a "happy fight-or-flight mode" where your body's innate intelligence can work without the interference of your thinking mind.
This conscious connected breathing approach shares similar neural mechanisms with meditation and psychedelic states, with roots in both ancient yogic practices and modern neuroscience, making it a powerful tool for nervous system regulation and emotional release.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can't make all six sessions?
Each Neurodynamic Breathwork session stands alone while contributing to your larger journey. Missing one session won't diminish your experience, though the cumulative effect of all six sessions is powerful.
What are the contraindications?
Certain medical conditions require clearance from your healthcare provider. Full details are provided during registration.
Is this suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Your breath knows what to do. No previous breathwork or holotropic breathwork experience needed.
What should I expect after a session?
Everyone's experience is unique. Some feel energized, others deeply relaxed. Integration can continue for days or weeks after a Neurodynamic Breathwork session.
How is Neurodynamic Breathwork different from holotropic breathwork?
Neurodynamic Breathwork is based on holotropic breathwork principles but adapted for accessibility and modern life. Sessions are shorter (2 hours vs 6-8 hours), can be done online, and include active facilitator support during integration. Both practices use conscious connected breathing to access expanded states of consciousness.
Is breathwork safe?
When practiced with proper guidance and within appropriate contraindications, breathwork is generally safe. This is why we require medical clearance for certain conditions and provide trauma-informed facilitation.
What is conscious connected breathing?
Conscious connected breathing is a technique where you breathe continuously without pauses between the inhale and exhale, typically through the mouth. This circular breathing pattern is what creates the altered state that allows for deep healing work.
This work is complementary to, not a replacement for, medical or psychological treatment.
